Statewide poster contest focuses on Lyme Disease Maine CDC announces the winners of the 2021 Lyme Disease Awareness poster contest. Share AUGUSTA The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention has announced the winners of its annual Lyme Disease Awareness Month poster contest, held for Maine students in kindergarten through grade 8. Maine CDC holds the contest every May to demonstrate the importance of tickborne disease prevention and awareness. This year’s winners are: • Evelyn Hibbard, grade 1, Suzanne Smith Elementary School, Levant; • Lulu Willauer, grade 3, Stratton Elementary School; • Alexia Indermuehle, grade 5, Andover Elementary School; and • Aiden Zagelder, grade 8, Hichborn Middle School, Howland.

While the pandemic has forced many things to change in our lives, the women and men at Andover Public Schools have made it their mission to push through.  Connecticut had its first confirmed cases of the virus in early March 2020, and a short time later, all schools canceled in-person learning for the remainder of the semester. The question remained: How would schools reopen in the fall? Superintendent of Andover Public Schools Valerie Bruneau said by the time she came on board in the summer, the district had already started its planning process.

The cases have been identified in the Moncton region, Edmundston region and the Miramichi region. The 10 cases in Zone 1 (Moncton) involves: Four individuals 19 and under An individual in their 20s An individual in their 30s An individual in their 50s Two individuals in their 60s An individual in their 70s The nine cases in Zone 4 (Edmundston) involve: Two individuals 19 and under An individual in their 20s An individual in their 40s Three individuals in their 50s An individual in their 60s An individual in their 80s The one case in Zone 7 (Miramichi) involves: An individual in their 50s All cases are self-isolating and under investigation.
