Man dies after wall collapses in Chattogram Star Digital Report Star Digital Report A man died in the Double Mooring area of Agrabad in Chattogram this morning after a wall collapsed on him while painting it. The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam (45), hailing from Lalkhan Bazar inKhulshi area, reports our staff correspondent quoting Shilabroto Das, Nayek of Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police box. The accident took place near Fakir Moulovi Shah Mazar around 9 am. Mamun Mia, the younger brother of the deceased, said that his brother was hired to paint the boundary wall of a house in the area. He was critically injured after the wall fell on him.

Supporters of Awami League backed councilor candidate Abul Hasnat Belal alleged that women supporters of AF Kabir Manik, an independent councilor candidate of Lalkhan Bazar, attacked them with the itchy substance locally known as bilai khamchi in front of Shahidnagar City Corporation Girls High School. A chase, counter-chase between the two rival groups in front of the school took place over the matter.

Two were stationed at two centres in Shahidnagar City Corporation Girls High School from 8:00am to 3:15pm while the other journalist visited four centres at Bakalia Government High School between 8.00am and 3.30pm. The voting ended at 4:00pm. While on duty, the three DS reporters saw how the polling was marred by sporadic incidents of violence, intimidation and capture of centres by ruling Awami League men. Polling at the Shahidnagar school s two centres in Lalkhan Bazar progressed amid sporadic incidents of violence and chaos.

Several people were also injured due to clashes between the supporters of AL-backed councillors and rebel AL candidates. Explosions were heard in Jalalabad, Pathantuli, Paschim Bakulia, Firingibazar and Lalkhan Bazar areas in the morning. Although voters were seen coming to polling centres since 8am, when voting started, cocktail bomb explosions created a sense of fear.
