Authorities of the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR) have launched special patrolling measures to prevent kendu leaf smuggling. Kendu leaves are considered a cash crop and are often plucked in areas abundant with them. The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) prohibits exploitation of trees, leaves, or bark within the reserve. Vigilance is being maintained to seize vehicles and leaves being smuggled out of the reserve.
