Laverne Pearl Waisenen Stone, 97 (when asked, she would always say 59-1/2), passed away in her home of 75 years with her loved ones by her side. She was born in Duluth on March 5th, 1925, to John and Jennie Waisanen. Laverne graduated from Duluth Central in 1943. She was united in marriage to Eugene Stone on May 11th, 1946 in the first Duluth Methodist Church. Laverne started her secretarial career at an early age for Kemp Fishery. She later moved to Western Union where she worked for 10 years. While there she earned numerous Secretary of the Year awards. She also helped coordinate many telegraph messages to and from the boys at war. She then moved her attention to owning and operating EE Stone Trucking with Eugene. Laverne was known for her welcoming home to friends and neighbors, but especially to family. She also took much joy in organizing her annual class reunion. She is survived by daughter Deb Stone, son Arthur (Collette) Stone. Grandchildren Eric (Mandy) Stone, Brandon (Tracy)
