No closed captioning is were following a developing story out of sanibel this morning. Someone shot an officer during a traffic stop. It happened around 8 last night. According to police, the officer was conducting a stop, when someone opened fire. The gunman then took off, but was later found in a nearby into custody after a shootout with police. The officer was taken to lee memorial hospital, where he was treated then released. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. And in st. Louis the search is on for the person who shot a Police Officer there. According to the st. Louis police chief. The sergeant was shot during what is being called an ambush style attack. It happened last night. The chief says the officer was . Not involved in a call or a traffic stop. He was sitting at a stop shot twice in the face. Tonight we begin with breaking news. A murder scene and one count and a dramatic arrest on the other side of the bay. About 90 minutes ago, eagle 8 hd flew over mlk in hillsboro county where authorities arrested a murder suspect wanted in a shooting happening earlier this afternoon in st. Petersburg. As you can see, the arrest appears to have gone down in the middle of traffic on this very busy travel holiday. Earlier, eagle 8 hd flew over the scene of the reported shooting. The victim, described as an elderly man who was shot in a home on 40th avenue north. That man reportedly died from his injuries.
