Donations for Toys for Tots can be dropped off at the front desk at the Bonner County Daily Bee, 310 Church St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can also drop off donations at Columbia Bank’s Sandpoint branch, 414 Church St., or at the Ponderay branch, 300 Bonner Mall Way; and at the Ponderay Starbucks.

To support and encourage a love for reading in the state’s youth, Idaho Commision for Libraries has awarded grants to three schools in Lake Pend Oreille School District.
Both Northside and Sagle Elementary School libraries received $5,000 in “Supporting Beginning Readers Mini Grants” for the 2023-2024 school year. Funds will be used for the purchase of quality, age-appropriate fiction and nonfiction books for pre-K, kindergarten, and first-grade students. The funding also ensures that the kindergarten and first-grade students are allowed to check out at least two books per week.
The collection of winter items by Coats 4 Kids is underway, and gently used and clean winter items as well as new items are being accepted. The program also accepts cash and check donations, which are used to purchase new coats.
