Officially Ecuador reported 9022 cases of Coronavirus infections with 456 deaths. The country said 1009 recovered and 7,558 active cases are remaining. 26 people per million died, which is a relatively low number, but unfortunately, the numbers are not the reality this South American country is dealing with.
The number seems to be off by approximately 5,700 additional dead not reported with bodies piling up on the streets of Guayaquil, the second largest metropolitan in Ecuador. In good times Guayaquil is a charming city and a magnet for tourists.
