Kyra Mancktelow & Dylan Mooney: Continuous / Unbroken Bonds July 14 - August 28 Emerging Queensland artists Each applying a unique and distinct aesthetic, Continuous / Unbroken Bonds investigates long-lasting legacies of colonialism, asking questions such as how we remember and how we acknowledge traumatic histories. The exhibition includes two installations of new work by each artist. Date Time Rising star sparkles in gallery nod to NAIDOC Week One of the works by Kyra Mancktelow – Born under a tree 1, 2020, ceramic, woven natural fibre, emu feathers and underglaze – will be on display from June 11 to July 24 at Logan Art Gallery. Works by one of the most talented young artists in City of Logan will be showcased at Logan Art Gallery from next week. The artworks, which include prints, sculptures, ceramics, paintings and weavings, are part of the first major solo exhibition by Crestmead artist Kyra Mancktelow (Quandamooka, Mardigan, South Sea Islander). Kyra also designed the stunning mural on the Chester Park water reservoir on Middle Rd at Boronia Heights.

'I had the biggest grin on my face': NATSIAA finalists announced

Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay artist Dennis Golding couldn’t wait to tell his family when he learnt he was a finalist for the 2021 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards. Mr Golding is one of 65 First Nations artists in the running for prizes presented by the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. “I had the biggest grin on my face the whole day, he said.  At the centre of his work submitted for the awards is his early life growing up in Redfern s Block . Like many other Aboriginal families, Mr Golding s grandparents had to adjust to the experience of urban living after moving to Sydney from the country for a better education and work opportunities.
