30 Rock spinoff, the series follows retired businessman Neil Bremer who runs for mayor of Los Angeles to prove he s still got it. Once he unexpectedly wins, he has to figure out what he stands for, gain the respect of his staff, and connect with his teenage daughter, all while controlling the coyote population of LA.
While the series boasts some pretty incredible cameos - yes that was
Chrissy Teigan in the show s pilot - the main cast of the show is just as impressive.

Well,
Mr. Mayor served us its third episode this week and let s face it, it tasted a bit stale. Let s review.
Allow me to say this first: I want to like this show. It comes from great writers, it has a great cast, it s a workplace comedy. On paper, I should like this show. But the truth is, the last episode left me with a solid feeling of meh. And I think it s mostly because it doesn t feel fresh. Like I mentioned in the preview for the first two episodes,
Mr. Mayor is very reminiscent of other shows that came before and were highly successful, like

Bouncing from “Cheers” to “The Good Place,” good, old, reliable comedy actor Ted Danson has landed once again in a good, old, reliable, albeit weak, sitcom on good, old, reliable NBC.
For better or for worse, the inevitable effect of there being a new Tina Fey and Robert Carlock show on the air is that it will always especially this early into its run be compared to Fey and Carlock’s other shows. Naturally, that means that
Mr. Mayor will always be compared to
30 Rock and
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. But it also means it will also always be compared to
Great News, even though that was actually a Tracey Wigfield project (co-executive produced by Fey and Carlock). Fey and Carlock have a very specific sense of humor and structure that they rely on, which is why you can spot a “Fey and Carlock show” from the jump.
With all the political shenanigans that occurred in 2020, probably the last TV show you want to watch right now is one about politics. Thankfully for all of us, NBCâs new comedy, âMr. Mayor,â is not political.
Yes, the show is about a mayor and his political team. But âMayorâ is really a workplace comedy that just happens to take place in a political work setting. Though the humor does occasionally come from political issues, most of it comes from the quirky characters and their relationships with each other. And all of it is incredibly funny.
âMayorâ stars Ted Danson as Neil Bremer, a retired businessman who ends up running for mayor of Los Angeles after the mayor unexpectedly quits. Neil retired when his wife died to take care of their daughter, and sheâs never really seen him work at anything. So, he partly runs to show her he can be successful, but he also truly cares about his city. After he surprisingly wins, he has to figure out what h
