of, you know, daylight in the house in terms of you know the president escaping impeachment, i talked to a senior administration official earlier this evening who essentially said, no, we are not even considering the idea of a censure of the president as a compromise that some of the moderate democrats were talking about because they are concerned about other political future and some vulnerable districts. so that s injury a solid indication that yes at this point the kwhous is looking to the senate. and they made it clear at least the president is looking for a defense to be mounted, a defense of himself mounted there. that s right. and i talked to the senior administration official this evening, anderson, who said a lot of this is up in the air. it s unclear at this point they see the white house council pat cipollone as potentially leading the trial in the senate. but haven t ruled out the possibility of the president appearing himself as unlikely as it sounds.
these instances. phil? keeping an eye on what the kwhous does with gun measures. there s emphasis for what we have seen, not just because the past, but a, people don t know where the president will land and b don t think anything substantive will happen. but they believe there will be a package of something. minimal of what the president wants, probably a lot more minimal. but a hard stance senator on gun issues, he said why there s less than 50% chance something gets done, it s worth having the conversation. if the white house introduces a package like they say they re going to, the debate will come back. one of the big concerns was the debate would go away. if they put something on the table regardless of what it is, the debate comes back. nancy pelosi had a call on friday saying this is the most urgent position for them. where it ends up is the open
and really doesn t he doesn t apologize, doesn t really show much humanity and only seems to make it worse and add to it. at a that s right. and, you know, i talked to this administration official who said, anderson, that it appeared that acosta had stabilized things a little bit but when you would talk to officials across the west wing what you would here was sort of muted praise for alex acosta. he stopped the bleeding. that he gave some information to defenders to counterhis critics and so on. but there wasn t this full throated support coming from the administration that alex acosta was going to stay on the job. and was it more the political optics of the controversy? or the substance of acosta s deal with epstein that bothered the president? because cherly the president or at least people in the kwhous knew about his role in the epstein matter before he was made secretary. right, anderson. i mean they were worried about the revelations and the potential for more revelation
