We know this happened well within french waters. We know it actually happened on a canal some 30 kilometres or so from the coastline itself. We have seen footage of the canal in question, the water level is very high. It is a wide waterway, flanked on one side by forests and on the other by some homes. We have also seen footage of Emergency Services appearing to be by the bow of a small white boat which is jutting up from the water line and alongside that belongings strewn all over the towpath.
