A memorial wall engraved with the names of about 43,000 soldiers who died in the 1950-53 Korean War will be set up in a dedicated park in Washington.
Construction at the Korean War Veterans Memorial Park will start in mid-March, the U.S. National Park Service said in a press release on Monday. The Wall of Remembrance is a new, permanent addition to the memorial which will include the names of 36,574 American servicemen and more than 7,200 members of the Korean Augmentation to the United States Army who gave their lives defending the people of South Korea, it said.
The park was dedicated in the National Mall, a landscaped park in Washington, on July 27, 1995 in the presence of then presidents Kim Young-sam and Bill Clinton.
