The Aberdeen Gordon Highlander honoured for helping save Prague from the Nazis

William Greig became a hero in Prague during the Second World War.
It sounds like the script from a Commando comic; the young soldier who suffered captivity, escaped from the enemy, and was the hero of the hour in a desperate mission to save a city from oblivion.
Yet, as the medal which has just been donated to the Gordon Highlanders Museum illustrates, there was nothing fictional about the fashion in which Private William Greig helped rescue Prague from the Nazis and became the recipient of the Czech Military Cross for his courage while joining resistance fighters during the climactic stages of the Second World War.
