Bengaluru, Dec 14 : Prominent farmer leader Kodihalli Chandrashekhar, who led the Karnataka Transport Workers Union protest for four days, on Monday said that the workers were withdrawing their protest and would resume their duties across the state.
This announcement comes after Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation Chairman Nandish Reddy as a government s representative handed over a written assurance in which nine of the 10 demands were accepted by the state government.
Addressing the agitating staff members here, Chandrashekhar clarified that the government in effect has accepted eight of the demands as in the case of ninth demand on implementing Sixth Pay Commission recommendations, the state government had assured only if it gets finance department s clearance, which means to say that it is still very ambiguous.

Udupi, Dec 14: Several Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses remained off the roads on Monday December 14 in the district because of the strike by its employees in pursuance of various demands including treating them at par with government employees. Since morning, only two buses moved from KSRTC bus stand in Udupi, one towards Karkala and another to Dharmasthala.
The officials here in are hoping to get the services started soon.
Many passengers are also at the bus stand. For the last few days due to the strike, passengers at the KSRTC bus stand were minimum.
Accident-prone zones: Traffic police close U-turns in Whitefield
The Bengaluru City Traffic Police Monday closed two U-turns which were causing accidents in the Whitefield area. According to officials of the BTP Whitefield Division, U-turns near Pushpa Nursing Home on Whitefield Main Road, and near Whitefield Club have been closed. Bengaluru, Dec 13: Traveling public in Karnataka continued to face hardship as members of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees Federation refused to resume to work demanding considering their services on par with the State government employees.
However, the KSRTC authorities claimed that more than 100 buses are on the road and private buses may be run to solve the issue temporarily.
According to latest reports, the Minister held talks with agitating members and met the Chief Minister for discussion.
The ball is in the court of Chief Minister to resolve the issue.
