A 42-year-old man from Cornwall is facing three charges after police investigated a complaint.
Police alleged the man assaulted his girlfriend and prevented her from leaving a room in his residence during an altercation, and that he had assaulted her with a bottle.

The man, whose identity was not released, was charged with domestic assault; assault with a weapon; and, forcible confinement.
He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in Cornwall court.

CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Police Service (CPS) is celebrating national Police Week, which runs from May 9 to 15. The theme of this year’s Police Week is “Working Together to Keep our Communities Safe,” and CPS has a few initiatives they plan on launching this week to celebrate the occasion.
On Monday, May 10, CPS will be launching a fundraising campaign in partnership with Victim Services of S.D.G.&.A. and Koala Place for CPS service dog Joy titled “Wear it for Joy. The goal of the fundraiser is to help support Joy, who provides emotional support to victims and witnesses of crime.

Federal funding has been announced that will significantly expand and enhance Koala Place Child and Youth Advocacy Centre’s support in the community.
The Koala Place team has received funding from the Department of Justice Canada, and while amounts were not disclosed, the money means the organization will be providing direct case management and system navigation support to children, youth, and their families who access the centre in Cornwall.
