James D. Larson Sr., age 79, of Pequot Lakes passed away on April 24, 2023 at his home. Jim was born February 11, 1944 in Minneapolis to parents, Leroy and Dorothy (Minor) Larson. Jim lived his early years in Sauk Rapids, MN where he had many fond childhood memories. The family moved to Prior Lake where he attended high school and was very accomplished in both football and basketball. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Dixie Thurston, shortly after graduation in May 1963. He worked as a cement mason for local companies in the Prior Lake/Savage area and Dayco Concrete of Chanhassen prior to moving to Pequot Lakes in 1992 where he was self-employed until retirement. He enjoyed up north living, spending time with family, hunting and fishing, especially the Larson Annual Fishing Frolic (LAFF) with his brothers, sons and nephews. Eileen D. Carlson passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at her daughter, Pam’s home in Mora, MN. Eileen was born to Harvey and Amelia Hoover on August 22, 1927, at their home in rural Pine River. She grew up with sister, Ella, and brothers, Earl and Ray. On August 4, 1947, Eileen married Vern Carlson. They were married in Sand Point, Idaho on their way to Alaska where they had jobs waiting. Their life together consisted of working hard and playing hard. They loved traveling, spending time with family and friends, and playing cards.
Laurence Leroy Kicker went to be with his Lord on April 16, 2023. He was born to Leroy and Marvel Kicker on August 11,1939 in Jenkins MN. He was the oldest with 6 younger siblings. In 1964 he married Patricia “Pat” Harris. During their marriage of 58 years, 3 children were added to their union. He began his early working years at Carl’s Market in Pine River. In 1962 he joined the Army Reserves in Brainerd, MN then later worked full time for 37 years both in the active Army and Army Reserves. He retired in 1999 as a Warrant Officer.
