any other democrat would ever be in west virginia. in the latest ppp poll i think has him in the high 50s. the last poll i saw of kirsten sinema she is doing better in arizona than mark kelly. they re listening to their constituents. joe manchin would be the first to tell you, elect more democrats, stop relying on me, i represent west virginia. you know how this story is going to end. so i agree. they need to stop talking about taking those two out and talking about electing two or three more so they never need joe manchin or kirstin sinema s vote again. i guess it feels good to progressives to say, run joe manchin out of his seat. i don t think they would like who came after joe manchin if there were an open election in the state of west virginia. they might loose in the senate. the strategy is to elect more
better. david: well, and, kim, the progressives we re talking about winners and losers, clearly they lost on this one. they called this their last stand, that they weren t going to allow the two bills to be separated. well, at the last minute they were, and it looks like the elections on tuesday took a little wind out of their sails. yeah. well, this was a a hue milllating humiliating loss, david. all along they said they had to be passed together, and moreover, whatever passes here in the house, joe manchin and kirstin sinema had to agree to. they had to walk back from both of those. not only is this bill unknown as to when it will actually pass, the it will pass in the house, but even when it does pass, it is dead on arrival in the senate. they threw things back into that bill that joe manchin has already said he wouldn t do. close city had to do that in order to pelosi had to do that in order to buy enough votes from everyone this her coalition to get it through.
is on the cutting room floor. i heard you talk about this hundreds of times probably. i was told senator kirstin sinema opposes it because it stifles innovation in the pharmaceutical industry. what do you make of that and what conversations, you re saying you re working on trying to change this, are you talking to her, do you think she is convincible? look, this is not about senator sinema or senator manchin. it s about 50 senators and the outreach. they make up the 50. so do we all. here is the bottom line. last year, pharmaceutical industry made $50 billion in profit, last year, the top ceos made hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars in outrageous levels of compensation. so the issue is, right now, the pharmaceutical industry is doing everything that it can to make sure that one out of four americans is unable to afford
and the 50/50 senate? i miss my friends, but i do not miss what the senate has become. what we re seeing right now is how difficult it really is and these incredibly partisan times which as you know the senate has not been a hyperpartisan body. that has been changed. mitch mcconnell and his obstructionism. but i ll tell you what, i think they re going to land the plane. we have always had different opinions in our party. you goat majorities by having different opinions. you can elect people from place that s are not just bright blue. i think a lot of this is unfair to kirstin sinema. she is not talking what she is for and against in public. so everyone is trying to fill in
