A ribbon cutting was held for the opening of the new Kirksville Labyrinth Center above the Spur Pond off of Osteopathy Street on Thursday, July 27. The project was a longtime goal of Anne Moody, a chemistry professor at Truman State, who has been interested in labyrinth’s for many years. She was encouraged to fulfill her dream of building the labyrinth by Elsie Gaber, a former colleague at Truman State University and a member of the Thousand Hills Rotary Club, who sought out connections and benefactors that could assist with making the project a success.
Parks, Public Works projects get green light from City Council
Kirksville Daily Express
The Kirksville City Council approved a number of items as part of Monday’s meeting. Most of those items were centered on ongoing projects with the Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments.
Here’s a rundown of what was approved at the meeting.
Tower Lease agreement
The council approved a tower lease agreement with US Cellular, the second of three planned agreements between the city and cell phone corporations. One with AT&T was approved earlier this year.
These companies have used the old water tower to deliver signals. Since that water tower will be deconstructed, they have moved to different spaces. US Cellular will join AT&T, and eventually Verizon, on the Mark Twain Communications tower.
