Kinship opened up New Yearâs Day of this year in a 6-acre lot just off the Raccoon River Valley Trail and a quarter-mile from Hickman Road.
The breweryâs owner, Zach Dobeck, hails from Atlanta, Georgia, but his wife, Ann, is originally from Waukee. Three-and-a-half years ago, he set a goal to open not just a brewery but also a place for people to connect in the community.

WAUKEE, Iowa Despite the negative impacts the COVID-19 pandemic has had on businesses and communities across Iowa, there was at least one positive indicator. Several cities around the Des Moines metro issued record numbers of building permits in 2020, both in terms of number and value.
Waukee is one of those cities.
In 2020, the City issued 1489 building permits. Most of those were for new construction, including new single-family homes, townhomes, and apartments.
