ROAD signs around schools have been put up in a bid to encourage speedy drivers to slow down. The advisory 20 miles-per-hour signs can be found outside Harwich Community Primary School on Barrack Lane, and All Saints’ Primary School on Main Road. Another can be located on Hall Lane by Harwich and Dovercourt High School. Ivan Henderson, Councillor for Harwich and Kingsway Ward, has praised the move, calling it a step in the right direction for the children’s safety. He said: “These signs are advisory but hopefully drivers will notice them and think about cutting their speed near schools. “I’m really pleased after more than two years of campaigning and planning with Tendring Highways Panel we were able to do this.
