Prince Hamzah, the former Crown Prince of Jordan, accused of plotting a coup against King Abdullah II, his half-brother, has issued a statement pledging his loyalty to the monarch, after being confronted by fellow royals.
In an apparent easing of the palace conflict, Prince Hamzah signed a statement from the palace last night, saying: âI place myself in the hands of His Majesty the King. The interests of the homeland must remain above every consideration. We must all stand behind the king in his efforts to protect Jordan and its national interests. I will remain committed to the constitution of the dear Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and I will always be of help and support to His Majesty the King and his Crown Prince.â
