Six days ago, Kimberly Steele experienced a mother’s worst nightmare. Her son, 27-year-old Shaquille Steele, was found shot to death inside a running vehicle outside a Bessemer complex. The grieving mother is now asking that anyone who knows anything about her son’s death to please come forward.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. In the last several months, parents have been challenged to take on more roles than ever as tutors, cooks, nurses and caregivers. And in some cases they’ve been able to empower their children to take on new tasks of their own.
Eager customers line up for Ollie s Bargain Outlet opening

Only minutes after Ken Missig, Ollie s regional director of stores, opened the front doors to admit customers, Weir emerged carrying a large television box. The 50-inch smart TV wasn t a giveaway, but a hot deal at $199.

Was Weir glad he d come? Definitely, he said.
He wasn t alone in arriving early for Ollie s opening at 4601 National Road E. in the Gateway Shopping Plaza. About 80 people were lined up past neighboring Party City to the vacant former Trinity Christian Gifts & Books storefront, and others remained in their cars with the temperature in the upper 20s.
