Firefighters are still on scene this morning putting out hotspots from the fire on kim wahl island. The fire started yesterday afternoon around 230 and has burned three homes and over 40 a. This is video from a helicopter partnership with abc seven news. Heavy smoker the fire was seen from nearby antioch. The fire required air and water support from the u. S. Coast guard and cal fire. Crews from five different agencies from the area was called in to help. Witnesses said the fire started at the boat ramp and spread from one end of the island to the other. Officials said all 15 people who live on the island were evacuated safely. The only way to get to the island is by boat and firefighters say that is what made fighting this fire especially difficult. The executive inn on dempsey road is known by residents as a hotspot for underaged partying and drinking. Kids come and get away with things here. Reporter police say its true there have been incidents with partying in the past and at the time a young man was shot and killed there was a party going on, on the third floor of this hotel. Investigators are trying to see if theres a connection. This is a location that sometimes has parties but i cant say if this party was associated to this homicide or not. Reporter police say the victim appeared to be hispanic, between ages of 20 to 25. He was found in the parking lot tuesday night with several hysterical people.
