Orange County artists exhibit at Festival of Arts Fine Art Show

Festival of Arts organizers were unsure if the summer festivals would be able to return this year until a matter of months ago.
Without question, those involved are ecstatic to be back, even if it meant that the work that usually takes place over the course of a year had to be completed in significantly less time.
“There is such a celebratory spirit,” said Sharbie Higuchi, director of marketing and public relations for the Festival of Arts. “It feels like a giant family reunion of the arts, and we are so grateful and pleased that our doors are open and that we get to reconnect with the arts, reconnect with our artists, and actually, one another. UC Irvine s Institute and Museum of California Art (IMCA) will debut a new exhibit, â
Radiant Impressions,â upon reopening in May after an over yearlong closure due to the pandemic.
Selections of California art, from the IMCAâs permanent collections and private collections, will be exhibited. Works demonstrate how California artists rendered light to convey the rich and varied meanings in everyday experience. Highlights include paintings by George K. Brandiff, E. Charlton Fortune, Elsie Palmer Payne, Arthur Grover Rider and two seminal works by Guy Rose, âThe Green Parasolâ and âLaguna Eucalyptus.â

After a delay, the exhibition will be on view from May 15 through Aug. 15, 2021. Radiant Impressions was originally scheduled to coincide with Jean Sternâs retirement as the senior curator of California Impressionism at IMCA in July 2020. Stern, a noted author and lecturer, is also Executive D
