UPDATE 2:03 p.m.: Parents of students of Maude Moore Wood Elementary School who normally pick their children up are being asked to pick up their students from the school today. KISD will transport all walkers, car riders, daycare riders, and YMCA students back to Maude Moore Wood. Please pick your student up as normal from Maude Moore Wood, district spokeswoman Taina Maya said via email.
Bus riders will be taken to their regularly scheduled bus stop.
YMCA students can be picked up in the cafeteria, Maya said.
Tutoring for this afternoon has been canceled.

KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - A 10-year-old student set the fire that led to the evacuation of Maude Moore Wood Elementary School Thursday morning in Killeen.
The school at 6410 Morganite Lane in Killeen was evacuated at around 9:40 a.m. Thursday after alarms sounded and smoke from what the schoolâs principal described as âa small fireâ filled the building.
âAll students and staff are safe,â Principal Pam Disher said in a message to parents.

KILLEEN, TX â A 10-year-old has been charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to a toilet paper dispenser at Maude Moore Wood Elementary.
Around 9:40 a.m. on Thursday, April 22, smoke alarms sounded on the second floor of Maude Moore Wood Elementary School.
Officials immediately evacuated the campus, and the fire department arrived to assess the situation. A small fire was located in an upstairs bathroom and was quickly put out.
The Killeen ISD Police and fire department began investigating and determined the fire was intentionally set.
âWeâre quickly approaching year-round school,â Killeen ISD Superintendent John Craft said.
The proposed âAdditional Days School Yearâ calendar â a Texas Education Agency initiative made possible by the passage of House Bill 3 by the Texas Legislature in 2019 offers additional half-day funding for school districts that opt to lengthen the school year at any of their elementary schools â would add 19 days to the regular school year calendar.
âNow, in full disclosure, this has some wrinkles,â Craft told the board Tuesday. âThere are some budgetary implications and just some things we really need to think through.â
Under the proposed calendar, at a select number of pilot elementary school campuses, teachers and staff would start back to school on July 19 with students start date of Aug. 3, an early start of nine days before the rest of the district would start back on the 16th.
