KUALA LUMPUR, April 23 ― Ten individuals were arrested over their involvement with an online gambling syndicate raking in RM2,000 to RM5,000 in profits daily.
The syndicate had been in operation for the past eight months, promoting and offering their illict services from two condominiums in Subang Jaya here.
Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Abd Khalid Othman said they arrested eight men and two women, all locals aged 18 to 33, at both premises.
The victim’s boss said the victim, a 20-year-old chef, was a well-liked member of the team.
He said the suspect had been fired in mid-March due to an incident at work.
“He was fired because he pulled a knife on a fellow worker. He had been working as a dishwasher for a week or two. The suspect has a terrible temper and claimed he was being bullied.
“The victim was actually well liked by the team, ” he said.
He added the victim had allowed the suspect to stay with him.
“He also helped cover his rent when the suspect claimed he had no money, ” he said.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Abd Khalid Othman said the victim’s disappearance was noticed by his aunt after he failed to contact her to inform that he had returned home from work.
“The victim’s aunt then contacted his nephew’s employer and was told that the victim had not reported for work that day. An inspection conducted at the victim’s apartment unit found traces of blood at the toilet.

JAYA: Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 20-year-old cook in Subang Jaya and disposing his body at a rubbish dump on Sunday.
The victim who worked at a restaurant in SS15 Subang Jaya was strangled with an electrical cable before he was stabbed and had his throat slit.
His body was found in a large black bag in a rubbish dump at Persiaran Kewajipan near the Federal highway.
Among the suspects arrested was the victim’s housemate.
Subang Jaya police chief ACP Abd Khalid Othman today said the victim’s 60-year-old old aunt called the police after her nephew who called her daily after work was not contactable on Sunday.
