At 9 a.m. Saturday the parking lot at Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center was already filling up. About 200 cars had already parked, a number that would easily triple within the hour.
Six people will be inducted into the PG Sports Hall of Fame at this year’s awards banquet, March 9. It is the first time in the hall’s four-year history that the maximum of 10 new inductees hasn’t been reached.
“We’ve already inducted 30 people but there are still a lot of people who are potential nominees that haven’t been nominated by the public. We know there are good people waiting to be inducted, especially in the coaching, building and administration side,” says Mike Jenkins, selection committee chairman. Twenty-seven nominations were considered by the committee this year.
