COVID-19 by the numbers New Mexico health officials yesterday reported 1,434 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the statewide total so far to 160,543. Of those, the health department has designated 82,809 as recovered. Bernalillo County had 344 new cases, followed by 166 in Doña Ana County and 155 in San Juan County. Santa Fe County had 77 new cases. The state also announced 29 additional deaths, including a woman in her 80s from Santa Fe County who was hospitalized; there have now been 2,836 fatalities statewide. As of yesterday, 691 people were hospitalized with COVID-19, 126 on ventilators. In reviewing those figures yesterday during a COVID-19 briefing, Human Services Secretary David Scrase noted that cases have been increasing across the state and COVID-19 hospitalizations, though lower than they have been, remain high, with all six of the state s hub hospitals at 100% capacity.
