FREMONT - Complaints of service and price about trash removal soon could be addressed as the city opens bids for refuse service.
Danny Sanchez, Fremont mayor, said this week the contract with Republic, which was accepted in 2016, is set to expire at the end of September. Republic was the only bidder five years ago. We personally reached out to more providers, Sanchez said, with the hopes more providers would express interest in the city s contract. We re doing everything we can.
Sanchez and Ken Frost, safety service director, anticipate more competition in this round with companies like Rumpke having the opportunity to step in and bid.

FREMONT - The $3.8 million Rawson Avenue construction project, which includes repaving the road and making sidewalk improvements, is still on track to be complete by the end of August, according to Fremont safety service director Ken Frost.
“So far so good, We haven t run into any major snags,” Frost said. “It s going as planned.”
Work resumed in March.
Frost said residents have been accommodating to the construction taking place this year.
“I think that everybody can see the big picture of the importance of getting an infrastructure repaired more than anything, as well as the new road going in there, so the residents have been very cooperative with us getting in and out of there,” Frost said. “So far, everybody s been very nice and helpful.”
