Tourism industry seeks visa extensions for visitors spending $1m a day

Andy Woods Tourism operators desperate for customers says it makes sense to allow overseas visitors who can support themselves to remain here. Roberts said a further visa extension would be a logical decision, and a plea for that to occur had been made to Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi and Immigration NZ (INZ). “If a visitor wishes to stay, and they can financially support themselves, thereby making an ongoing economic contribution to New Zealand, their visitor visa should be extended for a further six months. “Forcing them to leave, and even deporting them, makes no sense in the current circumstances.” TIA was still awaiting a response from Faafoi and his department, but INZ told

Cornish Tin give more details on Wheal Vor near Breage drilling

Now mining consultant Jeff Harrison has spoken further about the plans in a statement sent to everyone who has made contact with the company since it announced its plans. As part of it he has addressed people who say they were upset to only just be hearing about the plans, rather than as a whole community involved from the start. Mr Harrison said Cornish Tin informed the Cornwall Council mineral planning officer and Breage Parish Council in October last year of its plans, but they were asked to keep this confidential whilst landowners were identified and contacted. It is a sensitive issue to inform a landowner that they do not own the mineral rights below their land and that exploration can happen, and they do not need to give their permission.

County's New Climate Plan Could Use The System That Doomed The Old Plan

Reply The site of the proposed Lilac Hills Ranch development near Valley Center, which voters rejected in 2016 and the Board of Supervisors rejected again in 2020. (Photo: Jamie Scott Lyle/Voice of San Diego) January 13, 2021 There s this thing called carbon offsets, and San Diego County might not be able to make mandated greenhouse gas cuts without them, even though that very program is what tripped up its previous climate action plans. Subscribe The Board of Supervisors kicks off the effort to rewrite its plan on Wednesday with a Democrat majority for the first time in decades, a change environmentalists are giddy will lead to more progressive steps to address climate change. But politics won t change the physical challenges the county faces in curbing emissions locally.
