Google is launching a new Chrome feature that allows users to create a link to highlighted text on a webpage.
The new feature is rolling out as part of Chrome 90. Google product manager Kayce Hawkins introduced the new feature in a blog post.
âWith âCopy link to highlightâ, you can share a URL for selected text highlighted for the recipient,â Hawkins notes.
Hawkins outlines that once you visit a webpage all you have to do is highlight the text you want to create a link to and then select the âcopy link to highlightâ option in the menu after you right-click.

Google has started rolling out a feature for Chrome 90, which will allow you to create a link that takes people straight to the part of a page you highlighted. The tech giant originally launched the capability as an extension last year now that it s officially part of Chrome itself, you don t have to install anything extra to use it anymore.
If you want to, say, point people to a part of the Wikipedia page on penguins that talks about how they don t fear humans, then all you need to do is highlight that passage, right click and then choose Copy link to highlight. You can then send that URL, which ends in a #, to anybody you want. When the page loads, it ll take them to that part of the text instead of to the top of the Wikipedia article.

An upcoming feature in Chrome 90 will allow users to create a link to a section of a website that they’ve highlighted. First launched as a browser extension called Link to Text Fragment last year, Google has now added the feature within Chrome itself.
The new feature is still rolling out to users; I wasn’t able to get it to work even after I updated to Chrome 90. But the feature works just like the browser extension did, according to a blog post from Google product manager Kayce Hawkins: Visit a web page, highlight the text you want to create a link to, right click, and select “copy link to highlight.” A URL ending in a pound sign (#) is generated, which you can then share with others.
