Katy Independent School District’s school board voted to unanimously update and adjust the district’s current book removal policy after several children’s classics, including Dr. Seuss’ “Wacky Wednesday” and “No, David!” by David Shannon were put on the district’s removal list because of nudity.
The board voted unanimously Monday to change a book policy that banned any book that showed or implied nudity. The district has been under intense criticism about its book bans.
Texas led the nation in banned titles in a list created by PEN America, a literary nonprofit. Florida came in a not-so-close second. Many surprising titles are included in this list.
