A New Poetry and Film Collaboration Brings Versified Cinema to OZ Arts Defy Film Festival and Kindling Arts Festival present 12 Poetry Into Film Collaborations May 7-8 Tweet To Have a Name by Angell Foster and Alora Young Nashville’s Defy Film Festival celebrated its fifth birthday in September. The showcase of eclectic experimental films managed one of the most successful transitions to online culture presentation we saw during a period of strict social distancing. Five years also seems to have marked a coming-of-age moment for the weird little movie festival that could, as organizers are now expanding their programming in collaboration with Kindling Arts Festival and OZ Arts to present a weekend of screenings of short films created by local poets paired with local filmmakers.

OPSU Crops Judging Placed 4th at National Contest Panhandle State Communications on 04/26/2021 The Oklahoma Panhandle State University agronomy crops judging team placed 4 th at the National Invitational Crops Contest held April 16 in Kansas. A group of five agronomy seniors made the trip, including Cassidy Tolle Johnson, Katie McCall, Dillon Roesch, Chandler Evans, and Karsten Harrison. The team was coached by Dr. Curtis Bensch, OPSU professor of agronomy. The team took fourth place overall in the contest in which nine universities and colleges competed. Top five teams were Kansas State University, Iowa State University, University of Nebraska, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, and University of Wisconsin, respectively. Other colleges competing were Murray State University from Kentucky, Texas Tech, West Texas, and Northwest Oklahoma State University.

room for mannequins in houston. ktrk s katie mccall brings us out on a limb to bring us this story. standing there beside you our goal is to put it back like it was originally. reporter: timber childress is a trauma surgeon for mannequins. i guess that s the mother in me, to fix things that are broken. reporter: piece by piece the 80-year-old patiently brings beauty back to mannequins that could have landed in landfills. her customers range from department stores to art collectors. this patient is sadie. she s 40 years old, sent from virginia. this is an old mannequin. but they want to keep the face. reporter: childress is one of the only people in the world who can save her. we re going to make her pretty. she s on her way. reporter: she and her daughter sherry are carrying on a 65-year-old business started by timber s late husband. they know every make and model and own 4,000 mannequins themselves. but their favorites are the older ones no longer in production.
