Lieutenant governor kegel, speaker ralston, speaker pro tem shaffer and speaker pro tem jones, members of this great general assembly, constitutional officers, members of the consulate corps, and my fellow georgians, in 1944, georgias own Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics of a song titled accentuate the positive. The most memorable lines from that song are, youve got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative, dont mess around with mr. In between. Now, that was great advice for our nation as world war ii was drawing to a close. And its great advice for all of us today. For the past six years, ive had the opportunity to report to you on the state of our state. And i do so again today. The first year was 2011, and i was just entering the office of governor.
