Newly-elected House Minority Leader Jason Buckel (R-Allegany) said Republicans “need to do a better job” of communicating their party’s message on key issues to voters in the predominantly Democratic Baltimore-Washington, D.C. metropolitan area if they are to remain competitive in statewide elections.
Buckel, 49, has served in the House of Delegates since 2015. Earlier this month Buckel was elected minority leader and Del. Christopher Adams (R-Lower Shore), 48, was elected minority whip. They will officially succeed the leadership team of Dels. Nic Kipke (R-Anne Arundel) and Kathy Szeliga (R-Baltimore and Harford) next year. Kipke has served as minority leader since 2013.
