The 40 Best Political Quotes Of 2009 | John Hawkins' Right Wing News

35) The Republican party is not a church. It does not promulgate doctrine and then exclude those who fail to share it. But political parties must stand for something, or they will be unable to generate enthusiastic support from the volunteers needed to burn shoe leather and calories winning competitive elections. 34) The mainstream perception that conservatives are close-minded and dogmatic while liberals are open-minded and free-thinking has it almost exactly backward. Liberal dogma is settled: The government should do good, where it can, whenever it can. That is President Obama’s idea of pragmatism and bipartisanship: He’s open to all ideas, from either side of the aisle, about how best to expand government and get the state more involved in our lives.

ESR | February 22, 2021 | A brief history of conservative publications in Canada – updated to 2021 (Part Two)

home > archive > 2021 > this article Loading By Mark Wegierski web posted February 22, 2021 The Conrad Black media revolution of the mid- to late-1990s, it could be argued, reconstructed the hitherto unspectacular Southam papers (and the former Financial Post) into a snazzier, as well as more intellectually diverse, format – with some surprisingly sharp-edged conservatism that had virtually never before been seen in Canada. As Black’s fortunes ebbed, the ideological sharpness of the papers markedly diminished, but the changes could not be entirely expunged. Black had also controversially taken over Saturday Night, which, however, at no time came to resemble a conservative magazine. Indeed, as far as the author knows, that venerable magazine has now completely folded.

ESR | January 25, 2021 | Looking at the structural problems of Canadian conservatism at the dawn of 2021 (Part Three)

home > archive > 2021 > this article Loading By Mark Wegierski web posted January 25, 2021 The impact of the so-called right-wing blogosphere is certainly far less in Canada than in the United States. The impact of various personal blogs (such as those of Kate McMillan, Kathy Shaidle, or Richard Klagsbrun) is difficult to accurately gauge. There are as well the party-based Blogging Tories. The website conservativeforum.org is only an archive site. Free Dominion could be called a “self-posting forum” where commentary is not formally structured. Unfortunately, Free Dominion has been recently subjected to vicious “lawfare” and its situation is highly tenuous. Enter Stage Right is an independent, formally structured, consistently-edited, frequently updated, conservative Canadian e-zine. There is also Judi McLeod’s Canada Free Press. In the wake of the failure of the Sun News Network, Ezra Levant has launched a major website, called The Rebel (or The Rebe

The Truth About Birmingham And Police Dogs—"Alas, Decades Too Late To Matter" | Blog Posts

I’ve said it at this blog again and again and again: Topics that were once discussed only at “racist websites” now semi-regularly make their way into the mainstream alas, decades too late to matter… She s linking to photoblog IconicPhotos, whose post on the famous picture of a Birmingham cop with a German Shepherd comes with a disclaimer that some opinions which follow may be upsetting to some readers. I have written about both photos before. The reactions to London photo [ about a Hate-Thatcher demo in 1990]  are muted; the comments under the Alabama photo were virulent. It touched a nerve: some accused me of
