revolution in egypt, people believe and others in the arab world will see this as what s coming around the region. and again, because egypt has been such a close ally of the united states on iran, on israel, on making sure that the suez canal operates stability and, in fact, in countering terrorism, the fear is that whatever government comes after, mubarak will never be quite as strong in his partnership with the united states. we have to get over that. it s probably true, but the sooner we get over that the more likely it is that the subsequent government will work closely with us. so many people around the world watching this so closely. thank you for joining us this morning. thank you. t.j.? kate, up next on this american morning as that unrest in egypt continues, how might it impact you? well, maybe at the gas station. we ll explain. also, don t expect to see former president bush on the

reporter: good morning, kate, t.j. with less than three months to go until the midterm selections the unemployment rate may be most important number in politics. that two figure has two responses from the republicans and the democrats. the department of lay were released the monthly jobs report show that july marked the seventh straight month of job creation in the private sector. so jobs have been growing in the private setter for seven straight months. we received more bad news for american workers and their families. the unemployment rate shows no sign of improving and remains elevated at 9 1/2%. while the democrats and republicans obviously don t see eye to eye on jobs they agree on one thing, the economy and especially jobs is the most important issue on the minds of american voters. so which party do you think will do a better job in proving the economy? it seems the republicans, they slightly edge out democrats in our most recent cnn opinion research corporation national
