Since March 28 the airline has been flying an additional two services per week, to reach six weekly flights to Auckland from Dubai. “Customers holding tickets with Auckland as a final destination and who do not meet the entry requirements will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin,” the spokeswoman said. Passengers travelling from points in India to Dubai and connecting to EK448 operating to Auckland would be accepted for travel until Friday after which the restriction would apply, she said.

Emirates boosted its New Zealand frequency at the end of March to six Auckland-Dubai flights per week.

There has been a lot of talk of travel bubbles in Asia, but with few results so far. The latest possibility is between Singapore and Australia, with a travel bubble possible as early as July. There is a lot of work to do, but Singapore Airlines at least is committed to re-starting travel.

Following on from the news that Australia and New Zealand will start allowing quarantine-free travel from April 19th, there is hope that Singapore and Australia could be the next. Possibly within a few months.
