At a time where many people will be looking for additional funds, savers will be delighted to note that Help to Save bonuses are now being paid.
Over 60,000 Britons should have now received the first bonus payment from their Help to Save accounts, after first beginning to put away funds two years ago.

Under Help to Save, people get two tax-free bonuses over four years - one after two years, and the second as the final bonus.
Savers receive Help to Save bonus payment
More than 60,400 savers across the UK have earned their first Help to Save bonus payment, each receiving an average of £378 in time for Christmas, HMRC can reveal.

Help to Save is the UK government backed saving scheme. It was launched in September 2018 to help those eligible save up to £50 a month in a secure savings account.
For every £1 saved, people can earn a bonus of 50 pence, over four years. The 50% bonus is payable at the end of the second and fourth years and is based on how much account holders have saved.

Parents in Oldham are being urged to register the birth of their newborns, so HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) can verify their Child Benefit claims.
Normally, a birth must be registered before claiming Child Benefit.
However, with some local register offices operating at reduced capacity and some parents unable to go to them because of COVID-19, HMRC announced in April that claims could be made without having to register the child’s birth first.
More than 100,000 parents across the UK have been able to take advantage of this temporary change, ensuring that they receive this vital form of financial support.

Child benefit is available to Britons who are responsible for raising a child under the age of 16, or under 20 if they remain in full time education or training. A positive to Child Benefit is that it can be claimed from the moment a child’s birth is registered, providing important financial support to new parents. However, due to the impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many have been unable to register the birth of their child.
