Why is permission needed? - Readers have say on delayed parkrun return

Parkrun UK had to cancel all events in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic last year. Lesley Sedgwick Fursey said: If a park is council owned and opened to the public, why is permission needed? Surely a park is there for all to use? I know this is an organised event, but many people run anyway, so where s the problem. I must be missing something. Karl Fursey said: Lockdown saw me pass through the 1000 miles of running barrier last weekend since that first 10 miler kicked off 2021 on New Year Saturday. Whilst it would be nice for Park run to return, I only ever do four a year as 5km is one of my least favourite distances to run.
