Sacked Kewell 'up against it' from the start at Oldham, say fans group

Share on Twitter Kewell yesterday became the ninth coach to bite the dust during the mercurial 40-month tenure of machete-wielding Moroccan owner Abdallah Lemsagam - and the 15th in six turbulent years. Push The Boundary fans collective - which boasts several thousand members and has the ear of CEO Karl Evans - were, like many of their brethren, hoping that after seven months in charge Kewell would at the very least trigger a contract option for next season. However, with Oldham drifting in 16th place in League Two - 12 points off the playoffs and coming off just one win in six - Kewell carried the can.

Trio of hikers stranded for two days in windy, snowy Sedona describe being rescued

SEDONA, Arizona (KPHO/KTVK) It looked like a scene right out of an action movie. An Arizona National Guard rescue team flying in to save three stranded hikers Tuesday, above the Haribo Canyon in Sedona. All three hikers were visiting from out-of-town. Scott Brand and his wife Crystal were visiting Arizona from Arkansas. They had gone out Sunday morning to do some rock climbing and repelling, when the weather rolled in and they couldn’t get out. “The worst part was definitely our feet,” said Scott. “We had only the same wet socks on the whole time. I was concerned about frost bite and losing a foot.”

Freedom campers 'killing' Golden Bay's small campgrounds

Nina Hindmarsh/Stuff Marina and Karl Adams of Takaka Camping and Cabins, at their empty campgrounds. The couple say freedom camping has almost driven them out of business, and they welcome the changes to the new bylaw, which closed two of Golden Bay s only designated freedom camping sites for non-self-contained vehicles. Freedom camping is “killing” small campgrounds, a Golden Bay owner says. “No matter how much we charge, we can’t compete with ‘free’,” said Karl Adams, the owner of Takaka Camping and Cabins. ”Ultimately, freedom camping has killed us.” The Tasman District Council amended its Freedom Camping Bylaw in early-December, with councillors voting to close controversial sites at Waitapu Bridge and Taupata Reserve.
