Pretoria - Residents of Mamelodi say not one but three gangs, including the notorious gang âBoko Haramâ, are responsible for the reign of terror in the Tshwane township which involves murder, drug dealing, extortion, car and business hijackings.
According to a community leader, who asked to remain anonymous for safety reasons, apart from the so-called Boko Haram, criminal groups such as Farasai and Al Qaeda were also terrorising residents of the township east of Gauteng. This was in addition to another gang led by taxi boss Vusi âKhekheâ Mathibela, known as the Cityâs Number 1 âtsotsiâ.

Pretoria - Karen Meyer, the City of Tshwaneâs MMC for community safety and emergency services has warned young people in Pretoria to behave responsibly amid the second wave and a new variant of the coronavirus.
The City of Tshwane was confirmed as a hotspot for the virus by President Cyril Ramaphosa, and according to Meyer, this meant that the risk of infection was higher for people in hotspot areas. She said this also meant the virus was escalating at an alarming rate which also meant everyone needed to be vigilant and understand the need to stay home, sanitise, wash hands and wear a mask.

The capital city s metro police will be on duty to enforce the rules.
Tshwane Community Safety MEC Karen Meyer said, the Tshwane Metro Police has not approved any event in the City of Tshwane for 16 December or any other date during the rest of the year or for early next year. We are, however, aware of events that might take place illegally in the city at known spaces and the Tshwane Metro Police will do extra patrols, will be more vigilant as it forms part of their Festive Season operations. Also, the fact that we are in the midst of our COVID-19 second wave, we really do urge our residents to be more responsible and ensure that they do not attend these events because the Tshwane Metro Police will act decisively.
