Karachi’s District East authorities will likely carry out major demolition operations to raze structures constructed on the encroached land of the park. Earlier this week, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the authorities to demolish all illegal structures including a mosque, shrine, and graveyard built on the land allotted to Karachi’s Kidney Hill park. It also ordered to end encroachments on the Tariq Road where Madina Masjid was constructed on the land allocated for a park, according to the court. A meeting was held on Wednesday to implement the supreme court orders. The meeting, presided over by District Municipal Corporation(East) Administrator Rehmatullah Sharqi and East D.
The Jamaat-e-Islami on Wednesday staged sit-ins at eleven places in Karachi against the Sindh government s new local government bill. In absence of a traffic plan from the authorities commuters experienced delays at M.A Jinnah Road. However, Traffic Police DSP (operations) Saeed Arain claimed traffic flow was not disrupted in other parts of the city. The main sit-in is being staged at the MA Jinnah Road in front of the KMC building, SAMAA TV reported. Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman is scheduled to address the gathering, it said. Rehman will also address the sit-in at the Star Gate located on Sharae Faisal. Other demonstration are to be addressed by local JI leaders. The TV reported.
