Centre says stocks replenished based on production.
Amid the surging second wave of COVID-19 infections across the country, States are grappling with vaccine shortage, with several running vaccination centres below capacity and demanding that the Centre give them stocks to last at least seven days.
Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday had tweeted that 13.5 crore doses of vaccine were available of which 9.5 crore had been administered until Friday. The remaining 4 crore were either in the ‘pipeline’ or in stock.

Jagan tells officials to procure adequate vaccine doses from the Centre
Expressing concern at the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy called for a concerted effort to control it so as to avoid another lockdown, which cost the State dearly last year.
“COVID caused a staggering loss of ₹21,000 crore to the exchequer (in 2020). We cannot afford to go back to those days as the economy will suffer a devastating blow,” he observed, ordering that wide publicity be given to COVID prevention and management.

Health Minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas has asked the Panchayati Raj, Rural Water Supply and Health Department officials to ensure there were no new cases of gastroenteritis, after four persons died in the past two days either due to supply of contaminated water or having food that was not fit for consumption.
About 50 cases of gastroenteritis were reported at Gorukallu village in Gadivemula Mandal on Tuesday and Wednesday reportedly due to contamination of drinking water supplied through pipelines. According to District Collector G. Veerapandian, the pipelines were 20 years old, and the water got contaminated due to a leak.
