We don’t want any clampdown of information. We will treat it as a contempt of court if such grievances is considered for action”.

Posted on April 16th, 2021 Courtesy Adaderana Seven new COVID-related deaths were reported in Sri Lanka today (April 16), the Director-General of Health Services confirmed. The new development has pushed the country’s death toll from the pandemic outbreak to 615. 1. The deceased is a 69-year-old male resident in Pasyala. He died on 14.04.2021 while undergoing treatments at National Hospital Colombo. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid-19 infection, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease and asthma.  2. The deceased is a 76-year-old male resident in Rathnapura. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid-19 virus while undergoing treatments at Teaching Hospital Rathnapura and transferred to Base Hospital Mulleriyawa where he died on 15.04.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, chronic kidney disease and heart disease.

Accordingly, the total number of deaths due to Covid-19 infection in Sri Lanka is 615, 1. The deceased is a 69 year old male resident in Pasyala.
