In what is shaping up to be an impending fall-out, five Coast governors yesterday failed to honour their promise to hold joint rallies to unite the region behind a common agenda ahead of the 2022 polls.
Yesterday, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi told the Sunday Standard that he will unveil a Coast party by next month following intense pressure from locals and their leaders.
Mr Kingi held a consultative meeting with Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from the region yesterday.

The race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta is billing itself as a highly polarising contest that has already attracted many contestants, with 15 aspirants emerging 17 months to the General Election.
Already alliances are being formed and the crowded race, which started building momentum immediately President Kenyatta was sworn in for his final term in November 2017, is beginning to take shape.
Pundits believe the number of aspirants will eventually come down to smaller groupings that will lighten the political scene.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Kilifi’s Amason Kingi are yet to find a common ground on the future of Coast politics ahead of the 2022 General Election.
Kingi is expected to hold a meeting with leaders of fringe parties next Tuesday to deliberate on plans to amalgamate them to form a formidable outfit. The Mombasa governor has steered clear of the regional party debate, insisting that he will battle it out with other presidential aspirants for the ODM ticket.

Having hit the road earlier than anyone else, expending energy and resources for political mobilisation, swimming against the tide and concentrating his activities in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s backyard, Ruto’s years of political exploits are facing an acid test.
On Friday, President Kenyatta dared Ruto to quit the government if he was uncomfortable with it, accusing him of undermining his own government.
