N.J. man killed by minivan on Alabama highway after stepping out of his car, cops say

A 68-year-old New Jersey man was hit and killed by a minivan along an Alabama highway Wednesday night after getting out of his car, authorities said.
Carl Browning, of Jamesburg, and his vehicle were struck in the eastbound left lane of Interstate 22 at 10:20 p.m. according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
The crash took place near mile marker 91, about a mile from the Adamsville exit, according to Trooper Justin O’Neal.
Browning was pronounced dead at the scene, just northwest of the Birmingham city line.

STEELE The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating after a 23-year-old man was killed in a crash in St. Clair County.
Dalton Blakley, 23, of Gallant, was killed in the wreck that happened around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021.
Blakley was driving a 2002 Mazda B2300 truck that left the roadway and struck a ditch on Loop Road, about eight miles south of Steele.
“Blakley was partially ejected and succumbed to his injuries,” said Trooper Justin O’Neal. “He was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The Mazda B2300 was the only vehicle involved in the accident.
