A bit about this society, which i joined many years before i got this good job. And i remain among the legions of supporters of this societys many endeavors. This society has been a key player in improving public understanding of the court and its role in the constitutional framework of our government. Regular attendees of these lectures know how engaging they have been and i appreciate something else. The societys Training Program for high school teachers. Works wellconceived and good to read. Among my favorites, eyewitness accounts in Supreme Court history. It is a collection of welltold anecdotes about people and events in the life of the court. Also, second edition of Supreme Court decisions and womens rights. A book designed for secondary school and collegeage readers. In 2012, the society updated the Supreme Court justices illustrated biographies, so now that volume includes four new entries, the chief justice, and the new justices. Last, i cannot resist speaking of a collection

On board withholding a vote on a Trump Nominee during the campaign. Where a nominee of a president is from a different a party than the senate, then more often than not the senate does not confirm. On the other hand, when theres a nominee of a party that is in the same in the same party as the senate, then typically they do confirm. If a nominee actually reaches the floor, then i will vote based upon the qualifications of that nominee. Were going to ask an expert about that reasoning coming up. Governor blagojevich, theres obviously been criticism about the president s decision to commute your sentence. Its certainly within his power to do so. What interests me since youve been out in the statements youve made youve shown no remorse for the crimes you were convicted by a jury of and are portraying yourself as a victim of persecution by prosecutors. Just about everyone though thats looked at the evidence against you says thats just false. Well, i dont think theyve looked carefully because i am a political prisoner. I was put in prison for practicing wait a minute. Youre a political prisoner . Nelson mandela was a political prisoner. They have no undue process and unjustly jailed and you had jury convict you. You had appeals courts look at your sentencing and you even you even appealed to the Supreme Court twice and they refused to hear you. So youre hardly a political prisoner. Well, first of all, Nelson Mandela went before a court. He was convicted in a court of law. I had by

He city. Im joined by dr. Russell moore. Its an interesting dichotomy to hear the very uplifting gospel song here at Mother Emanuel Ame Church while also hearing in the background from churches all across the city very solemn bells ringing in memorial for the nine people killed. Almost encapsulating in a way the spirit of the day. Thats exactly right. Its quintessentially christian. Our emblem is a cross which is an instrument of torture and death but also a symbol of hope. When i see all of this i am reminded of what the bible says. We grieve but not as those who have no hope. This white sue prem sist could not harm them because as a christian i believe there is resurrection from the dead hope for the future. Thats what this community is doing. Theyre grieving for the loss. They see it as something that is a true tragedy, but they dont do so without hope. The blending of lament and hope together is the very best of what it means to be christian. Its beautiful. Lets go back inside and
