Breaking: Appeal court nullifies disqualification of Ize-Iyamu, Gani Audu On By Ozioruva Aliu THE Benin Division of the Court of Appeal Monday set aside the Judgment of the Edo State High Court that disqualified the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his running mate, Gani Audu in the September 19, 2020 governorship election on the ground that Audu filled forged documents in INEC’s form EC9. The lower court presided over by Justice Courage Ogbebor ruled that by his ruling the APC did not have a candidate for the election. The APC, Ize-Iyamu and Audu filed separate appeals against the ruling. At its sitting today, the judges in a unanimous decision said there was no evidence of credentials forgery on the part of Gani Audu.

Edo APC to appeal Abuja high court judgement

The case was brought against Audu by the plaintiff, Sunday Kadiri, from Ogbona ward, in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state. The judge also nullified the candidacy of the governorship candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Edo election: Court annuls Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Gani Audu’s APC candidacy January 6, 2021 An Edo State High Court sitting in Benin, has nullified the candidacy of the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the September 19, 2020 governorship election in the State, Mr. Gani Audu. The court presided over by Justice Courage Ogbebor, by extension, also nullified the candidacy of the party’s governorship candidate for the election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. Audu is a former member of the State House of Assembly. The Plaintiff, Sunday Kadiri, from Ogbona ward, in Etsako West Local Government Area of the State, had asked the court to disqualify Audu from participating in the election on account of having given false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to aid his qualification for the election.
