So the response i get from people now and i think its one of the exciting things about writing for young people is when you write for young people, you dont just write for them you write more their parents and aunts and booksellers and librarians. And so what i hear just like you said, ellen is people who write to say im a 70yearold gay man, and if i had had this book when i was in middle school, i wouldnt have maybe have been in the close earth for the clottest for the or 12yearold boys who say im the only boy in my dance class in utah and it was so cool to read a character like nate. Whatever that boys going to grow up to become, i dont know but its exciting to know that there are voices on the shelves that are being published, by the way, so many publishers that are doing this. What is happening now, we are not in a state of crisis i dont think the state needs to employ those draconian forms of control, but should the society disintegrated, should there be the kind of unrest that we see in some European Countries like greece they certainly will bring in the military if they feel that they need the military in order to retain power, and they will use these legal mechanisms which they have created for themselves against us. Were not in a moment of crisis right now. We are in a moment of relative stability. I think they put tanks on the streets of ferguson missouri against unarmed protesters, you see glimpses of the capacity of the military state. I think we would have to be i kind of freefall for us to begin to see this
